Annual Session Placement: August 5, 2023

2023/24 Annual Session Placement classes are for new students only. Students who attended the 2022/23 Annual Session, or 2023 summer programs need not audition. No audition required for students under eight years of age.

Admission to the Annual Session is by placement class only. If a student is outside of a 200 mile radius of Portland they may submit a video audition in lieu of auditioning in person. See video information below.

*Please note* students attending a placement class are required to show proof of vaccination. Please email your vaccination record to schoolofobt@obt.org before the audition.

In-person auditions require:

WHAT TO WEAR:
Female identifying students: Black leotard with skin tone or pink tights and skin tone or pink canvas ballet slippers.Male identifying students: White t-shirt or leotard, black tights, white socks and white ballet slippers.Non-Binary students: White t-shirt or leotard and black tights with white socks and white ballet slippers or black leotard with skin tone and pink tights, and skin tone or pink canvas ballet slippers.

We are supportive of any religious or cultural dress code preferences. Please contact the School Director to discuss an appropriate option that best suits the needs of the student and family.
WHAT TO BRING:
A 5” x 7” color head shot and a 5” x 7” color photo in a dance pose of your choice.
Females: if on pointe, please bring your pointe shoes.
Attending students will be informed via e-mail of OBT School’s decision within two weeks of their placement class.

Video Placement

Prospective students may submit a video application. This video should show portions of barre and center work (as well as pointe work for females) and be no longer than 10 minutes. Advanced students have the option of sending a classical variation with their classroom work. A YouTube link can be submitted as a video. Please click HERE to submit a video application form.
